The Doobie Brothers - Long Train Running

"Long Train Runnin'" (or "Long Train Running") is a song written by musician Tom Johnston and recorded by The Doobie Brothers.

It was included on the band's 1973 album The Captain and Me and released as a single, becoming a top 10 hit on the US Billboard Hot 100, peaking at number 8. This song became very famous for its intro with the guitar.

It was covered by Italian band Traks in 1982 and was then covered by English girl group Bananarama in 1991. In 1993, the Doobie Brothers version was remixed and charted in several countries.

The song is sometimes titled "Long Train Runnin' (Without Love)" due to the words "without love" being sung twice in the chorus.(Wikipedia)

Doobie Brothers – Long Train Running Lyrics

Down around the corner, half a mile from here
See them long trains run, and you watch them disappear
Without love, where would you be now
Without lo-o-o-ove

You know I saw miss Lucy down along the tracks
She lost her home and her family and she won't be coming back
Without love, where would you be right now
Without lo-o-o-ove

Well the Illinois Central
And the Southern Central Freight
Got to keep on pushin' mama
You know they're running late
Without love, where would you be now
Without lo-o-o-ve

Well the pistons keep on turning
And the wheels go round and round
The steel rails are cold and hard
For the miles that they go down

Without love, where would you be right now
Without lo-o-o-ve ooh
Where would you be now

Baby baby baby babe oh won't you move it down
I gotta keep on moving, gotta keep on moving

one hit wonder
